There were many beautiful churches in Sorrento. The Basilica di Sant'Antonio is a 15th century church (photos 1-5) built on top of an 11th century church (photos 6-8). Although it has been renovated several times it retains some of the original decor. The 18th century Chiesa di San Francesco (photos 9-17) has a bronze statue outside in front of the entrance, and a 14th century cloister around the side - we were fortunate to see a gallery of paintings on display but not fortunate enough to hear a concert there. We couldn't identify the next church we came across (photos 18-23). It was quite small and very charming. Chiesa di San Felice e San Baccolo (photos 24-28) is a 4th century Baroque church which served as Sorrento's Cathedral during the middle ages. Duomo dei SS Filippo e Giacomo (photos 29-42) has a beautiful bell tower, and the interior of the church has much 14th-15th century art.
